Nanotyrannus - NC Museum of Natural Sciences

The recent illustration I had the privilege of creating for the press release on Nanotyrannus. I worked closely with Dr. Lindsay Zanno and the Dueling Dinosaurs team over at the NC Museum of Natural sciences, so a big credit to their help & guidance. After long debates over it simply being a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex, the news has dropped that Nanotyrannus is now indeed classified as it’s own separate species that coexisted alongside Tyrannosaurus rex. The artwork commissioned depicts a scene where these two species may have interacted - in this case we have some pack hunting behaviour, ganging up on a juvenile T-rex. However in the background, the looming adult T-rex may suggest that help isn’t too far away!
