Zoo Tycoon Profile: Egyptian Fat-Tailed Scorpion

The Egyptian Fat-Tailed Scorpion (Androctonus australis), is a hardy desert scorpion from North Africa, Somalia, the Middle East, Pakistan and India. A small arachnid, the fat-tailed scorpion has a scary set of claws and a curved tail with a venomous stinger. The smaller the scorpion, the stronger the venom. It's venom is strong enough to kill a human in 7 hours. Scorpions use sensitive hairs on their claws to detect prey nearby. They then either crush the prey or inject it with venom. Digestive juices liquefy the victim so the scorpion can suck up its juices.

Diet: Insects, mice and frogs

Size: 1.5 to 4 inches.
